Scope: This standard specifies a method for determining the bound styrene content of emulsion polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). This method is to measure the refractive index of the sample after extraction, and determine the amount of bound styrene according to the comparison table of the refractive index and the mass percentage of styrene. If a film suitable for the determination of the refractive index can be prepared, this method is also applicable to the extracted emulsion polymerized oil-extended SBR. This method is not suitable for solution polymerization SBR.
