—This standard specifies three methods for testing color. Chapter 2: Visual Testing This chapter specifies how to visually test the apparent color of a sample in a bottle. This test only provides preliminary information and may be used, for example, in field investigations. Report simply as apparent color. Chapter 3: Measuring summer colors using optical devices This chapter specifies the method for measuring the true color of a sample using optical devices. This method can be applied to raw water and pale industrial wastewater. Regarding interfering substances, see 3.3. Chapter 4: Method for visually measuring the color of natural water Specifies the method for measuring color by visual comparison using a hexachloroplatinate standard solution. This method can be applied to raw water. See 4.2 for interfering substances. — In some cases, it may be necessary to dilute strongly colored samples prior to testing or measurement. 1. When reporting results, be sure to state the method applied.
