This standard specifies methods for measuring mechanical vibrations in individually encased, enclosed speed-up and speed-down gearing systems. This standard specifies methods of measuring gear box and shaft vibration, types of measuring instruments, measurement procedures and test methods to determine vibration levels. Vibration rating values for acceptance are also included. This standard does not include torsional vibration measurement of gear transmission systems.
