Scope

This standard specifies the accuracy method for the corresponding tooth flanks of cylindrical involute gears. It also specifies appropriate definitions of gear tooth accuracy terms, the structure of gear accuracy grades, and allowable values for pitch errors, total tooth profile errors, and total tooth trace errors. This standard applies only to individual errors of individual gears, but not to gear pairs.
