GB/T 17311-1998
Scope
This standard gives the specified characteristics, performance requirements and corresponding measurement methods of electromechanical volume meters. The concept of "volume" is a practical parameter used to determine the magnitude of the electrical signal strength of speech and music programs. Since the program voltage changes rapidly, the swing response of the volume meter depends largely on the dynamic characteristics of the volume meter itself. Therefore, this standard includes the specification of these characteristics. The term "vu" (pronounced vee-you and use lowercase letters) is used to denote volume, and the vu number indicates the amount by which the program's volume is above or below a specified reference level. This standard does not involve the peak program level meter, because this is the content of GB/T 17182-1997 "Peak Program Electronic Meter".
