This standard specifies a method for evaluating the moisture resistance of coating films, coating systems and similar products in a continuously condensing high-humidity environment in accordance with coating requirements or product specifications. Coating substrates applicable to this standard include porous substrates (such as wood, gypsum and plasterboard) and non-porous substrates (such as metal). This method specifies a performance test for continuous condensation that may occur on coating surfaces under severe exposure conditions. This test method can reveal coating damage (including blistering, staining, softening, wrinkling, and embrittlement) as well as substrate damage.
