Scope
This standard specifies the potassium borohydride-silver nitrate spectrophotometric method for the determination of total arsenic in soil. The detection limit of this standard method is 0.2mg/kg (calculated by weighing 0.5g sample). When the content of antimony, bismuth, tin, selenium and tellurium that can form covalent hydrides is 20 times that of arsenic, it can be removed by absorbent cotton impregnated with dimethylformamide-ethanolamine, otherwise this method cannot be used. Sulfides have positive interference on the determination. When the sample is oxidized and decomposed, the sulfides have been oxidized and decomposed by nitric acid and no longer have any influence. A small amount of sulfide that may exist in the reagent can be absorbed and removed with lead acetate absorbent cotton.
