Scope
This standard specifies the silver diethyldithiocarbamate spectrophotometric method for the determination of total arsenic in soil. The detection limit of this standard method is 0.5mg/kg (calculated by weighing 1g sample). Antimony and sulfide have positive interference on the determination. Antimony below 300μg can be masked with KI-SnCl2. When the sample is oxidized and decomposed, the sulfur has been oxidized and decomposed by nitric acid and has no effect. A small amount of sulfide that may exist in the reagent can be absorbed and removed with lead acetate absorbent cotton.
