This section specifies an authentication model and general requirements and constraints for entity authentication mechanisms using security techniques. These mechanisms are used to verify that an entity is who it claims to be. The entity to be authenticated proves its identity by showing that it actually knows a secret. These mechanisms define the exchange of information between entities and, when necessary, with trusted third parties. The details of these mechanisms and the content of the authentication exchange are not specified in this part, but are specified in other parts of GB/T 15843. The mechanisms specified in other parts of GB/T 15843 can be used to help provide the non-repudiation services specified in GB/T 17903. The relevant content of non-repudiation services is not within the scope of GB/T 15843.
