- This standard specifies the determination of the tear resistance of plastic films and sheets by the trouser tear method. This standard is applicable to the determination of the tear resistance of standard trouser-shaped specimens cut from films or sheets of soft and hard materials with a thickness of less than 1mm. As long as the material does not produce brittle failure during the test, the test is valid. . This standard does not apply to the determination of the tear resistance of foam materials.
