Scope: This standard specifies the principles and methods for measuring the radioactivity of solid materials generated from the operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and intended to be recycled, reused or disposed of as non-radioactive waste. This standard is applicable to the measurement of radioactivity of solid materials generated from the operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities that are intended to be recycled, reused, or disposed of as non-radioactive waste, in order to determine whether these materials meet the published cleaning and control standards. Radioactive activity measurements of solid materials from other sources intended for recycling, reuse or non-radioactive waste disposal may be performed with reference to this standard. This standard does not apply to radioactive waste in the general sense.
