Scope

This standard applies to the following ground-use crystalline silicon photovoltaic devices: a) Single solar cells with or without protective cover sheets; b) Solar cell combinations; c) Flat panel modules. Note: The term "sample" refers to any of the above-mentioned devices. This standard does not apply to concentrating solar cells, and components equipped with concentrators, nor does it apply to photovoltaic and photothermal hybrid collectors, that is, collectors that deliver heat to fluids in heating systems in addition to generating electricity. This standard clarifies the measurement principle, specifies the standard solar spectral irradiance distribution, and explains the current-voltage characteristics and their derived parameters.
