- This standard specifies the classification and grading criteria for radioactive waste. This standard applies to all production, research and use of radioactive materials, as well as radioactive waste generated during the process of processing, reconditioning and decommissioning. This standard does not apply to the wastes produced in the mining and metallurgy process of uranium, thorium and their associated ores, and the environmental management of such wastes can be implemented by reference.
