Scope

The standard will lay down a method for testing pigments which describes the application of a significance test on the threedimensional normal distribution of CIELAB colour differences and their parameters. From at least 20 preparations of the test pigment and the reference pigment the CIELAB colour differences according to DIN 6174 are determined. From the measured values the coefficients of standard deviation ellipsoid and the critical values for each individual colour difference are calculated. The test uses the statistics of the chi square distribution at confidence levels of 70 %, 95 % and 99 %.#,,#
