DIN 51032:1986 Ceramics, glass, glass ceramics, vitreous enamels; permissible limits for the release of lead and cadmium from articles intended for use in contact with foodstuffs
This standard specifies permissible limits for the release of lead and cadmium from ceramic ware, glassware, glass ceramic ware and enamelled ware intended for use in contact with food. Depending on the type of material, the foodware is made of, different values are specified for table ware and citchen equipment, cooking ware, storage and packaging ware, and enamelled tanks, vessels and heat-water-apparatus, furthermore for doll's dishes. For flat ware the values are given in milligrams per square decimetre, for hollow ware in milligrams per litre.; The permissible limits for ceramic ware and for articles made of glass ceramics being decorated on the food contact surfaces are in accordance with the values specified in the EEC-Directive 84/500/EWG of 15. October 1984 for ceramic articles. In addition permissible limits for flat cooking ware made of these materials are specified.
