Scope
This standard specifies the atomic absorption spectrophotometric method for the determination of filterable barium in industrial wastewater. This method is suitable for the determination of filterable barium in industrial wastewater discharged from chemical industry and machinery manufacturing industry. Measuring range: The detection limit of this method is 1.7mg/L, and the upper limit of determination is 500mg/L. If the sample concentration is greater than the upper limit of determination, the sample can be diluted appropriately before analysis. Interference: When the sample coexists with 5000mg/L potassium, sodium, magnesium, strontium, iron; 500mg/L chromium; 100mg/L lithium and 10% (V/V) nitric acid, 4% (V/V) perchloric acid , 2% (V/V) hydrochloric acid has no significant effect on the determination of barium. The effect of background absorption produced by the presence of 100 mg/L calcium was also negligible.
