What is ISO 20238 about?
ISO 20238 specifies a method of testing to determine the propensity of a conveyor belt to generate heat flame or glow when held stationary, under a given tension, in surface contact around a rotating driven steel drum.
Note: For conveyor belts containing steel reinforcement, it may not be possible to conduct this test in full due to the inability of the conveyor belt to comply with the requirements. In this case, premature termination can be necessary.
Who is ISO 20238 for?
ISO 20238 on Conveyor belts is applicable to :
conveyer belt manufacturers
conveyer belt operators
safety regulatory bodies
servicemen and maintenance personnel
Why should you use ISO 20238?
Conveyor belts are being used in many industries today. But one of the common risks associated with it is fire hazards caused by stalled conveyor belts. ISO 20238 provides a method of testing that will assist conveyor belt users in assessing the degree of risk which can be anticipated from the hazard caused when a conveyor belt stalls. By adopting ISO 20238 , manufacturers and users can prevent great hazards caused by the heating of conveyor belts.
