Scope
This standard specifies a gas chromatography method for determining the formation potential of trihalomethanes in each process section of domestic drinking water treatment and its source water. This standard is applicable to the determination of trihalomethane generation potential in each process section of domestic drinking water treatment and its source water. This standard stipulates that the trihalomethane formation potential measured is expressed in terms of the amount of trihalomethane produced. The detection limits of the method are: chloroform 0.00009 mg/L, dichlorobromomethane 0.00003 mg/L, chlorodibromomethane 0.00004 mg/L, and tribromomethane 0.00022 mg/L. The lower limits of determination are: chloroform 0.0004 mg/L, dichlorobromomethane 0.0002 mg/L, chlorodibromomethane 0.0002 mg/L, and tribromomethane 0.001 mg/L.
