Scope: This standard specifies the technical requirements and test methods for hot-dip galvanized coatings on iron and steel products. This standard does not specify post-treatment and protective coatings for hot-dip galvanized products. This standard applies to hot-dip galvanized coatings (total content of other alloying elements not exceeding 2%) on steel parts (including some castings). This standard does not apply to the following situations: a) Plates, wires, braids or welded meshes produced by continuous hot-dip galvanizing; b) Pipes and bars produced by hot-dip galvanizing on automated equipment; c) Hot-dip galvanized products using special standards Dip galvanized products (such as fasteners), hot-dip galvanized products with additional requirements or inconsistent with the requirements of this standard. Note: Some product standards may specify the hot-dip coating requirements of their products by citing this standard or revising some clauses of this standard. The galvanized coating of the product can also be specified differently to meet specific requirements.
