- This document provides the three-character code structure and the corresponding three-digit code structure for representing currencies. For currencies with auxiliary units, the decimal relationship between the auxiliary units and the currency is also given. The code scope of this document also includes funds and precious metals. This document also includes basic guidelines for maintaining currency codes. This document applies to all areas of trade, commerce and banking where a description of money and funds is required. This document applies to both manual and automated processing systems.
