This standard specifies the method and graphical symbols for representing splines and serrations in drawings. The following two methods of expression are specified. (a) Faithful representation (b) Simple representation Reference: Faithful representation is specified in 5. Simple representation is specified in 6. and 7. The methods and graphical symbols specified in this standard apply to detailed drawings of the parts concerned (shafts and hubs) and assembly drawings of couplings. NOTE: To maintain uniformity, all figures in this standard are drawn in third trigonometry. It should be understood that the first angle method can be used equally well without compromising the principles established in this standard. Reference: In the original international standard, all diagrams are drawn using the first angle method, but in this Japanese Industrial Standard, the diagrams are drawn using the first angle method. Therefore, in this note, "first angle method" should be read as "first angle method".
