This document describes a method for determining the surface charge density of fabrics using the manual rubbing method. This document applies to fabrics of various compositions and constructions capable of withstanding triboelectric operation. Certain fabrics (such as low-strength or loose-structured fabrics) may not be able to withstand the mechanical friction in this test method, or may produce erroneous results. In this case, the method specified in GB/T 12703.1 can be used for testing. This document does not apply to the evaluation of clothing and clothing materials related to personal safety and protection of electrostatic discharge sensitive devices.
