- Scope
- This standard specifies the iodometric method for the determination of the content of oxyethylene groups in polyoxyethylene-type nonionic surfactants. This standard applies to polyethoxylated derivatives of saturated primary fatty alcohols, oleyl alcohol, saturated fatty acids, linear and branched alkylphenols. This standard also applies if unreacted alcohols, fatty acids or alkylphenols are present in the derivatives. If the derivative contains sulfur or nitrogen, oxygen or halogen (such as oxypropylene group), aldehyde or acetal, sterol, etc. on the adjacent carbon atom connecting the oxyethylene group, this standard is not applicable.
