- This standard specifies the gas chromatography method for determination of vinyl acetate migration in food-contact plastic packaging materials and products and the positive verification method of GC-MS. This standard is applicable to the determination of vinyl acetate content in four food simulants: water, 3% (mass concentration) acetic acid solution, 10% (volume fraction) ethanol solution and olive oil. In this method, the lower limit of determination of vinyl acetate in three water-based food simulants: water, 3% (mass concentration) acetic acid solution and 10% (volume fraction) ethanol solution is 2.4 mg/L, and the lower limit of vinyl acetate in olive oil is 2.4 mg/L. The lower limit of determination is 2.4 mg/kg.
