- This standard specifies a general method for the determination of acidity (acid value) and alkalinity using titrimetric analysis. This standard is applicable to the determination of acid and alkalinity in water-soluble chemical products. Water-soluble acids and alkalis in non-water-soluble chemical products can also be measured in the aqueous phase after extraction with water. It is also suitable for the determination of acidic components in samples extracted with boiling ethanol.
