This section provides a standard test method procedure for manufacturers to determine the ability of components, equipment and other products (hereinafter referred to as samples) to withstand sinusoidal vibrations of specified severity. The purpose of this test is to determine the mechanical weaknesses and/or degradation of characteristics of the sample. Use this information, combined with relevant specifications, to determine whether the sample is acceptable. In some cases, this test method can be used to demonstrate the mechanical structural integrity of samples and/or to study their dynamic characteristics. Components are also graded based on their ability to withstand different levels of severity of this test.
