Scope
This British Standard specifies the allocation of a minimum set of graphic characters to the alphanumeric zone of the alphanumeric section of a keyboard that conforms to BS ISO/IEC 9995-1 : 1994 and to BS ISO/IEC 9995-2 : 1994. The repertoire of allocated graphic characters is that of the United Kingdom 7-bit coded character set specified by BS 4730 : 1993, supplemented by a few characters from Latin Alphabet No. 1 of BS ISO/IEC 10367 : 1991. The alphanumeric zone of the keyboard may be provided with either 47 or 48 keys to which the graphic characters are allocated. The keyboard arrangements specified in this British Standard are intended to apply to keyboards of information technology equipment such as personal computers, workstations, and visual display units and other computer terminals.
