This document specifies three test methods for the determination of methylcyclosiloxane content in silicone wastewater using liquid-liquid extraction-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, headspace-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and purge-and-trap-gas chromatography. Liquid-liquid extraction-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry is suitable for the determination of water samples with methylcyclosiloxane content ranging from 0.1 μg/L to 250 μg/L. Headspace-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry is suitable for the determination of water samples with methylcyclosiloxane content ranging from 0.01 μg/L to 100 μg/L. The purge and trap gas chromatography method is suitable for the determination of water samples with methylcyclosiloxane content of 0.3 μg/L ~ 1000 μg/L. This document is applicable to the determination of methylcyclosiloxane content in silicone wastewater and surface water that does not contain solid or colloidal substances.
