Scope

This document specifies a method for the determination of the biomass and activity of aerobic and heterotrophic microorganisms in soil. This document is applicable to soil quality monitoring, assessing the potential ecotoxicity of soil and soil substances. This document is also applicable to soil samples from gradient contamination in the field as well as soil samples from controlled field or laboratory contamination experiments.
