Scope
This SAE Standard applies to all self-propelled machines that are designed to clean material from highways@ parking lots@ and floors in non-residential buildings. Primary methods for removing material can be by mechanical means@ pneumatic@ washing system@ or a combination. Purpose??To identify self-propelled cleaning equipment@ which are grouped into street and industrial sweepers and scrubbers. Rationale??SAE J2130 has been cancelled and replaced with SAE J2130-1 and SAE J2130-2 to differentiate between two classes of sweepers. SAE J2130-1 covers sweepers with gross vehicle mass greater than 5000 kg. These sweepers are used primarily for road building and maintenance. SAE J2130-2 covers sweepers with gross vehicle mass less than 5000 kg and are used primarily as industrial scrubbers and for side walk maintenance. The separation of the document will facilitate sweepers standards development within ISO TC195 road building equipment.
