Scope
This standard describes a method for determining the concentration of acidifying components in outdoor air. With a rotating denuder, the concentrations of the gases nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, ammonia and sulfur dioxide can be determined at a sampling flow rate of 1.8 m3/h. NOTE Appendix A provides a general description of sampling with a denuder, whether or not combined with a filter package. This standard applies to the determination of the concentration of acidifying components as gaseous compounds in the outdoor air. The described method is suitable for measuring the gases nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, ammonia and sulfur dioxide. Furthermore, these gases can be measured simultaneously if two rotating denuders are used in parallel. The minimum load on the denuder is 0.4 (xg) for all gases separately; the maximum amount is 2 mg for the gases nitric acid, hydrochloric acid and sulfur dioxide and 0.2 mg for ammonia. NOTES 1. Automation of sampling is recommended for long-term measuring periods. possible using, for example, a time roller 2. Appendix A also provides an overview of sampling for other application areas.
