Scope

The present document describes an IMS-based functional architecture for the PSTN/ISDN Emulation Subsystem (PES) of the ETSI TISPAN NGN overall architecture. The IMS-based PSTN/ISDN Emulation Subsystem described herein supports the emulation of PSTN services for analog terminals connected to the TISPAN NGN@ through residential gateways or access gateways. The present document provides a framework for an IMS-based functional architecture and is considered to be a preliminary version. In addition@ in order to fulfill the requirements of different operators and national regulatory requirements@ this archirecture will need to be enhanced. See annex A for a list of potential open areas.
