- This document describes a method for the determination of the polyester fiber content in two-component mixtures of polyester fibers with certain other fibers after removal of non-fibrous material, using the concentrated sulfuric acid method. Use concentrated sulfuric acid to dissolve and remove the polyester fiber from the mixture of known dry mass, collect the residue, wash, dry and weigh; use the corrected mass to calculate its percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The mass percentage of polyester fiber is obtained from the difference.
