- This document describes the security risks of DHCPv6, expands them, and proposes two ways to improve security: client authentication and encryption of communication between the server and client to improve the server's ability to resist attacks such as spoofing. This document specifies the new DHCPv6 messages of Encrypted-Query, Encrypted-Response, and the new DHCPv6 options of Certificate, Signatue, Increasing-number, and Encrypted-message, which are used to implement the authentication and encryption process of DHCPv6 to improve the security of the DHCPv6 protocol. This document is applicable to scenarios where user addresses are dynamically allocated in IPv6 networks.
