This standard specifies a weak magnetic detection method for pipelines, which is used for the detection of geometric deformation, cracks, material loss, perforation and other damages of ferromagnetic pipelines with magnetic field signal strengths usually below 0.1 mT. This standard is applicable to the direct detection of pipelines without surface protective layer or covering layer and the non-excavation detection of buried pipelines. This standard does not apply to the detection of damage to spiral welds, and does not apply to pipes with metallic coatings.
