Scope
This standard for primary (dry) unitcell and multicell batteries includes nomenclature@ sizes@ tests@ safety@ handling@ and performance for the following:(1) Carbon zinc batteries (LeClanche and zincchloride types)(2) Alkaline manganese dioxide batteries(3) Mercuric oxide batteries(4) Silver oxide batteries(5) Zinc air batteriesThe tests specified are designed to evaluate the performance of the cells and batteries under simulated service conditions. The battery types listed@ although not intended to be all-inclusive@ do represent most of those available to the consumer and@ therefore@ merit consideration in future designs of equipment.
