- Scope
- 1.1 These test methods cover the chemical analysis of extractables from synthetic rubbers and are intended for general use on solid uncompounded styrene-butadiene copolymers commonly referred to as SBR. Analysis of other synthetic rubbers is also possible with some of these test methods. The test methods and the sections in which they are covered are as follows: Sections Total Extractables 4 – 11 Organic Acid 12 – 19 Soap 20 – 26 Oil 27 – 42 NOTE 1—The nomenclature used in these test methods is in accordance with Practice D1418. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.3 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
