This document specifies a purge-and-trap/gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for the determination of methyl tert-butyl ether in soils and sediments. This document applies to the determination of methyl tert-butyl ether in soil and sediments. When the sample amount is 5.00g and a standard quadrupole mass spectrometer is used for full scan analysis, the method detection limit of methyl tert-butyl ether is 0.6 μg/kg, and the lower limit of determination is 2.4 μg/kg.
