Scope
"This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: Addition: Switches for an ambient temperature up to and including 55?? Switches are not rated using thermal current@ therefore Table 15 does not apply. NOTE When ""Part 1"" is mentioned in this outline@ it refers to the Standard for Switches for Appliances ?C Part 1: General Requirements@ UL 61058-1. Addition of clauses: This document is based on the Standard for Switches for Appliances ?C Part 1: General Requirements@ UL 61058-1. The clauses outlined below are intended to address the specific minimum requirements for switches incorporated into or integrated with portable/transportable power tools@ and gardening machinery in accordance with the Standard for Hand-Held Motor-Operated Electric Tools ?C Safety ?C Part 1: General Requirements@ UL 60745-1. If the switch complies with the Standard for Switches for Appliances ?C Part 1: General Requirements@ UL 61058-1 and is suitable for use in tools under the scope of the Standard for Hand-Held Motor-Operated Electric Tools ?C Safety ?C Part 1: General Requirements@ UL 60745-1@ the switch is considered in compliance with these requirements and additional testing is not required. Electronic switches shall be provided with at least one series contact in the load path. The National Differences@ including all clauses@ tables@ figures@ and annexes@ in the Standard for Switches for Appliances ?C Part 1: General Requirements@ UL 61058-1@ do not apply."
