This test method describes the testing procedures and requirements applicable in determining the carbon monoxide (CO) emission rate of a portable generator in a reduced oxygen environment. These requirements apply to spark-ignited engines installed in portable generators. The CO emission rate is to be determined by testing with the engine installed in the generator in the configuration to be sold by the generator manufacturer in a reduced oxygen environment by using a dilution chamber.
