This document applies to capacitors for power electronics applications. Systems using these capacitors typically operate at frequencies below 15kHz, and pulse frequencies may reach 5 to 10 times the operating frequency. This document distinguishes capacitors mounted in housings as components into AC capacitors and DC capacitors. This document covers a very wide range of capacitor technologies and their multiple applications such as: overvoltage protection, DC and filtering, switching circuits, energy storage and auxiliary converters.
