Scope
1.1 This specification covers a low-density material based on poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), intended for use as jacketing material for wire and cable. 1.1.1 The material has a closed cell foam structure. 1.2 The jacketing material covered in this specification is intended for use in wires and cables in power-limited applications, such as optical fiber cables, communications cables, coaxial cables, or power limited fire alarm cables. The material is not intended for use in power cables. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to inch-pound units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
