Scope
This document describes a method for the determination of ammonia and other volatile amines released from photographic processing effluents using strong bases, the results expressed in nitrogen. This method is applicable to the determination of the ammonia concentration in typical photographic processing waste liquid with the mass concentration range of ammonia gas ranging from 10 mg/L to 200 mg/L or the range of nitrogen mass concentration ranging from 8 mg/L to 160 mg/L. Other volatile amines are also commonly defaulted to ammonia, but are usually present in very low concentrations in photographic processing effluent.
