What is ISO 4787 about?
ISO 4787 provides methods for the testing, calibration, and use of volumetric instruments made from glass and plastic to obtain the best accuracy in use.
ISO 4787 is applicable to volumetric instruments with nominal capacities in the range of 100 μl to 10 000 ml. These include single-volume pipettes, graduated pipettes, burettes, volumetric flasks, and graduated measuring cylinders.
Note1: ISO 4787 provides methods that are not intended for testing volumetric instruments with capacities below 100 μl such as micro-glassware.
Note2: ISO 4787 does not deal specifically with pycnometers
ISO 4787 specified procedures for the determination of the volume of glassware can also be followed for the determination of a pycnometer volume. BS EN ISO 4787:2021 history
