These methods describe procedures for the determination of water and sediment in crude oils. The Gravity Settling Method for Crude Oils is in use in some areas of the United States for determining water and sediment in crude oil deliveries. Where used this method is well known. The most recent standard reference is Method D in ASTM Designation D 96-63; API Standard 2542@ published in the 1968 Book of ASTM Standards@ Part 18.
