Scope

This standard gives a description of the quantitative response scale (here response refers to the intensity of perception) and guidance for its use. This standard applies to all quantitative evaluations in sensory evaluation, whether it is for the overall quantitative evaluation or for specific attributes, and whether it is objective sensory evaluation or subjective preference sensory evaluation. The scales involved in this standard are commonly used measurement scales in sensory evaluation. Note the distinction between two common uses of the word "scale", namely response scales (see 3.1) and measurement scales (see 3.5). Note: Application examples are given in Appendix A.
