Scope

This standard specifies the method for the determination of free methanol in cosmetics by gas chromatography. This standard applies to the determination of free methanol in creams, lotions, shampoos, and hair gel cosmetics. The limit of detection for methanol in this standard is 6.0 mg/kg, and the limit of quantification is 20.0 mg/kg.
