Scope of application This standard specifies the potentiometric titration method for the determination of chemical oxygen demand in water. This standard applies to the determination of chemical oxygen demand in surface water, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater. This standard is not applicable to the determination of chemical oxygen demand in water with a chlorine-containing compound concentration greater than 1000 mg/L (after dilution). When the sampling volume is 3.00 mL, the detection limit of this method is 1 mg/L, and the lower determination limit is 4 mg/L. The upper limit for determination of undiluted water samples is 1000 mg/L. If the upper limit is exceeded, it must be diluted and measured.
