Purpose: This specification covers the procedure fo'r ultrasonic inspection of wrought titanium and titanium alloy products 0.50 in. (12.5 mm) and over in cross-sectional thickness. Application: Primarily for locating internal defects such as cracks@ voids@ spongy areas@ and other structural discontinuities which mayor may not be exposed to the surface. Testing normally will be by longitudinal wave procedure@ but shear wave procedure may be used when agreed upon by purchaser and vendor.
