- This standard specifies the gas chromatography method for determination of the migration of 1-octene and tetrahydrofuran in food-contact plastic packaging materials and products and the positive verification method of GC-MS. This standard is applicable to the determination of 1-octene and tetrahydrofuran content in water, 3% (mass concentration) acetic acid solution, 10% (volume fraction) ethanol solution and other water-based food simulants and olive oil. In this method, the lower limits of determination of 1-octene and tetrahydrofuran in water-based food simulants are 2.0 mg/L and 7.0 mg/L respectively, and the lower limits of determination of 1-octene and tetrahydrofuran in olive oil are 2. . 0 mg/kg and 7.0 mg/kg.
